Science journal week 8

We have been working with projectile throwing catapults. The two catapults we have been working with are the trebuchet and the onager. Although they are different catapults there are lots of things the same and lots of things are different.

The power the trebuchet uses to work is gravity.  The weights drop and the arm flies over making the projectile (tennis ball) shoot. And then there's the onager which has a force of twisted rope power to work. When you twist rope up it spins and unties really fast this helps the onager’s power. This power is called torsion power.

Although the trebuchet has a longer arm than the onager the onager fires higher, but the trebuchet fires further. The trebuchet flies further because the trebuchets arm is higher than the onager and the trebuchet is double the size of the onager.

The time I swam out to a raft.

The time I swam out to a raft .

I was walking on lots of sand then a raft  suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I ran straight into the water. I started to paddle my way through, over the freezing cold water then I finally got to the raft. It looked old and the raft was made of wood. By the time I got there, I didn't know what to do so I got on to the raft. But right after I got onto the raft I had an idea of what to do. I was going to jump. So I got up to the edge then I counted in my mind. Then splash, in the water. When I was in the water I began to slowly drift down. I was clutching the raft. I pushed my way up onto the top. I swam all the way back the shore, but I was  not going to jump this time.

science journal

Week 1: Starting to think about science: Gathering and Interpreting Data.
Today we focused on Science by making slime and poured the slime on Mr Anderson .First we didn't have enough ideas and I didn't have any strategies because I hadn't made slime before.

Week 2: Balloon Rocket experiment
Today we did rocket science. I would put my learning extended abstract because I used good strategies at the right time and helped others. Sadly the balloon rocket didn’t work because the string saw bad

At the start of the year

At the start of term I had one idea of how to be a responsible citizen because last year we focused on picking up rubbish. Now I think my learning is relational because I know how to be a helpful bystander. I pick up rubbish and be helpful and look after the little kids by being a wetday monitor. I help those kids stop scootering around the corners  because otherwise they all hit into someone and they will hurt someone.
My inquiry project is to coach basketball and help little kids to play. I didn't face any challenges and it went pretty well. Overall I felt really good.

responsible citizen

A responsible citizen has many important qualities and makes a positive contribution to their community. One of these qualities is being caring. A  responsible citizen takes care of people, property and the environment. For example they will pick up rubbish when they see it on the ground. Dad is a responsible citizen because whenever he sees rubbish he picks it up.

Hard out rugby

I play rugby at Burnside field on a winter's day. My uniform looks like a Wally top. I race to the line then I bowl them over. I tackle, race, dive, run., The angrier the better, because l run faster and we win.

metaphor poem

I am Porsche, fast with my learning.

I am a giant skyscraper, as still as lizard.

I am nature, helping the people.

I am an apple, strong and healthy.

I am a french fry, everybody likes french fries .

I am a jacket, warm and cuddly.
